Article Reviews
"For jazz enthusiasts and lovers of contemporary chamber music seeking new listening experiences, this album comes highly recommended. Zadra’s guitar playing combines technical precision with a tonal finesse that continually captivates. Wang’s versatile saxophone sound—mastering shades that range from breath-like whispers to passionate intensity—is remarkable: clear, yet gritty when the music calls for it."
Stefan Pieper, Das Jazzportal

"The sounds presented by the Wang–Zadra Duo are likely quite unique in the classical music world: the young China-born musician Zihao Wang, now living in Munich, plays saxophone, while the Italian Roberto Zadra plays guitar. And their debut CD is a compelling argument for this instrumentation. It begins with a “funky” sonata by Russell Peterson and continues with Cem by the Chilean composer Javier Contreras—originally written for violin and guitar—in which Zihao Wang shapes expansive melodic lines and both musicians showcase their virtuosity. The journey then leads to Motherlands by the British composer Stephen Goss, and finally to Einojuhani Rautavaara’s flute sonata, arranged here for saxophone. This musical voyage around the world, often colored by folkloric influences, is both richly diverse and an unusual listening experience."
