Roberto Zadra is a guitarist, composer and Founder & CEO of D’accordo Guitar Armrests. He began his guitar studies at the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory in Bolzano with Maestro Leopoldp Saracino and Laura Mondiello, where he graduated with distinction. He continued his education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under Prof. Franz Halász, completing a Master’s degree in Guitar. In addition, he earned a second Master’s degree in Composition – also with distinction – at the Conservatory of Bolzano. He is currently deepening his knowledge in music theory at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Prof. Dr. Christian Ofenbauer and Prof. Dr. Juliane Brandes.
In 2018 Zadra was selected as the soloist for the opening concert of the Bolzano Conservatory, where he performed Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra. He also represented the institution at the “Premio delle Arti,” an award organized by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research. He is the winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the First Prize at the “Concorso Internazionale di Musica Luigi Cerritelli” 2021, the “International Moscow Music Competition” 2021, and the “Gaetano Marziali Competition” 2022. He perfected his artistry with world renowned guitarist such as Stefano Grondona, Paolo Pegoraro, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Paul Galbraith, Marco Socias, José Antonio Escobar and Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana.
Zadra currently performs with saxophonist Zihao Wang as the Duo Dämmerung, with concerts across Europe. In 2021, they received the “Junge Kunst und Neue Wege” scholarship, and since 2022 they have been supported by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Munich. Their debut CD “Incantation” was released in 2025 by the label ARS Produktion. Additionally, Zadra’s recording of works by Johann Sebastian Bach was published in October 2023 by the Milan-based label Stradivarius.
As a composer, Zadra has been recognized with the national competition “Neue Klänge der Gitarrenmusik” in Cremona. His 12 Concert Études for guitar were published in 2020 by Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia and premiered at the Bolzano Festival for Contemporary Music. His works have been well received in the music journal Il Fronimo, and he has received numerous commissions for solo and chamber music both in Italy and abroad, including commissions from the Munich Organ Festival and the Bolzano Festival for Contemporary Music. Since 2023, he has published multiple transcriptions and original works for guitar, and his Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra was premiered at the Bolzano Festival for Contemporary Music.
As a music theorist Zadra dedicates his research to the guitar repertoire and literature. He was invited by the University of Surrey to give a presentation at the IGRC Conference during the international Guitar Festival Homenaje in 2025, with the Abstract Title Come or i die forever, Gesture, Agency and Topic Theory in Britten's Nocturnal after John Dowland.
He is currently guitar techer at the Musikum Salzburg and music theory tutor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.

Roberto Zadra ist ein Gitarrist, Komponist sowie CEO & Founder von D’accordo Guitar Armrests. Sein Gitarrenstudium begann er am Konservatorium „Claudio Monteverdi“ in Bozen mit Maestro Leopoldo Saracino and Laura Mondiello, wo er mit Auszeichnung den Bachelor erwarb. Anschließend setzte er seine Ausbildung an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München bei Prof. Franz Halász fort und schloss sie mit einem Master in Gitarre ab. Parallel dazu absolvierte er einen weiteren Masterstudiengang in Komposition – ebenfalls mit Auszeichnung – am Konservatorium in Bozen. Derzeit vertieft er seine Kenntnisse im Bereich Musiktheorie an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
2019 wurde Zadra als Solist für das Eröffnungskonzert des Konservatoriums Bozen ausgewählt, wo er Joaquín Rodrigos „Concierto de Aranjuez“ für Gitarre und Orchester aufführte. Zudem vertrat er das Konservatorium beim „Premio delle Arti“, einer vom italienischen Ministerium für Bildung und Forschung organisierten Auszeichnung. Er ist Preisträger zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Wettbewerbe, darunter der erste Preis beim „Concorso Internazionale di Musica Luigi Cerritelli“ 2021, der „International Moscow Music Competition“ 2021 sowie der „Gaetano Marziali Wettbewerb“ 2022. Aktuell bildet Zadra gemeinsam mit dem Saxophonisten Zihao Wang das Duo Dämmerung, mit dem er bereits Konzerte in Deutschland, Italien, Österreich und Spanien gab. 2021 wurden sie mit dem Stipendium „Junge Kunst und Neue Wege“ ausgezeichnet, und seit 2022 sind sie Stipendiaten von Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now München. Ihre erste CD „Incantation“ erschien 2025 beim Label ARS Produktion. Darüber hinaus veröffentlichte Zadra 2023 beim Mailänder Label Stradivarius eine Einspielung ausgewählter Werke Johann Sebastian Bachs.
Auch als Komponist ist Zadra international präsent. Er gewann unter anderem den nationalen Wettbewerb „Neue Klänge der Gitarrenmusik“ in Cremona. Seine „12 Konzertetüden“ für Gitarre wurden 2020 im Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia veröffentlicht und beim Bozner Festival für zeitgenössische Musik uraufgeführt. Seine Arbeiten fanden positive Resonanz in der Fachzeitschrift Il Fronimo, und zahlreiche Kompositionsaufträge für Solo- und Kammermusik folgten – unter anderem vom Münchner Orgel Festival und dem Bozner Festival für zeitgenössische Musik. Seit 2023 publiziert er Transkriptionen und neue Werke für Gitarre; sein Konzert für Gitarre und Orchester erlebte ebenfalls beim Bozner Festival für zeitgenössische Musik seine Uraufführung.
Als Musikwissenschaftler widmet Zadra seine Forschung dem Gitarrenrepertoire und der -literatur. Roberto Zadra è un chitarrista, compositore e CEO & Founder di D’accordo Guitar Armrests. Ha iniziato gli studi di chitarra al Conservatorio “Claudio Monteverdi” di Bolzano con il Maestro Leopoldo Saracino e Laura Mondiello, dove ha conseguito con lode il Bachelor in chitarra. Ha poi proseguito la sua formazione alla Hochschule für Musik und Theater München sotto la guida del Prof. Franz Halász, conseguendo il Master in chitarra. Parallelamente ha ottenuto, sempre con lode, un Master in Composizione presso il Conservatorio di Bolzano. Attualmente approfondisce lo studio della teoria musicale presso l’Università Mozarteum di Salisburgo.
Nel 2019, Zadra è stato selezionato come solista per il concerto di apertura del Conservatorio di Bolzano, dove ha eseguito il Concierto de Aranjuez di Joaquín Rodrigo per chitarra e orchestra. Ha inoltre rappresentato l’istituzione al “Premio delle Arti”, concorso organizzato dal Ministero dell’Istruzione e della Ricerca italiano. Nel corso della sua carriera ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti, tra cui il Primo Premio al “Concorso Internazionale di Musica Luigi Cerritelli” 2021, all’“International Moscow Music Competition” 2021 e al “Concorso Gaetano Marziali” 2022. Attualmente Zadra forma, insieme al sassofonista Zihao Wang, il Duo Dämmerung, con cui si è esibito in Germania, Italia, Austria e Spagna. Nel 2021 il duo ha ricevuto la borsa di studio “Junge Kunst und Neue Wege” e dal 2022 è sostenuto da Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now München. Il loro primo CD “Incantation” è stato pubblicato nel 2025 dall’etichetta ARS Produktion. Inoltre, nel 2023 Zadra ha pubblicato una registrazione di opere di Johann Sebastian Bach per l’etichetta Stradivarius di Milano.
Come compositore, Zadra è stato premiato al concorso nazionale “Nuovi Suoni della Chitarra” di Cremona. Le sue 12 Etudes da Concerto per chitarra sono state pubblicate nel 2020 da Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia e presentate in prima assoluta al Festival di Musica Contemporanea di Bolzano. Le sue opere hanno ricevuto recensioni positive sulla rivista Il Fronimo, e numerosi enti italiani e internazionali gli hanno commissionato lavori per formazioni solistiche e cameristiche, tra cui il Munich Organ Festival e il Festival di Musica Contemporanea di Bolzano.
